Charity Fashion Show raises £2,377

This year’s annual Charity Fashion Show at the Furlong Shopping Centre on Thursday 7th November raised just over £2,377 in aid of the Wave 105 “Mission Christmas” appeal, with help from a special catwalk appearance by Mrs England World 2018 Jordana MacArthur.

Fresh from representing England at the Mrs World Grand Final in Las Vegas earlier this year, beauty queen Jordana took to the runway alongside other volunteers to wow the crowds. Her husband Lee is Regional Construction Director for Ringwood housebuilder Churchill Retirement Living, whose charitable arm organised the event for the third consecutive year.

Ringwood Town Mayor Tony Ring and his wife were also there to support the show and enjoy the impressive display on the runway.

Taking place inside a festively decorated marquee in the Furlong courtyard, the evening of fashion, fun and fizz was also supported by local law firm Frettens and Buchannan Marquees as well as The Furlong stores and cafes including Boston Tea Party, who hosted the welcome reception, and fashion brands including Whistles, Crew Clothing, Oasis, Phase Eight, Fat Face, Hobbs, Osprey London and Joules. Other independent and family run stores such as Furlong Furniture and new natural skincare brand “Love to b” also opened late and offered exclusive discounts on the night.

There was also a raffle with a range of fantastic prizes generously donated by local businesses and Churchill Foundation partners. The star prize, won by a local lady, was a £300 Christmas shopping spree from newly opened Ringwood store – Whistles.

With nearly one in four children across the UK living in poverty this December, for many families Christmas is simply a luxury they can’t afford. Wave 105’s Mission Christmas appeal was set up to help the thousands of disadvantaged children in our local area who are in danger of waking up to no presents on Christmas morning.
