Queen’s Jubilee weekend
On 6th February 2022 Her Majesty The Queen momentously became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth. To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, there is a special extended four day bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June. The Furlong shopping centre and Ringwood Town Council will be putting on various free community celebrations to mark this historic and joyful milestone. Here is the latest programme of events:
Thursday 2nd June – Grab a coffee or a bite to eat at one of our many Furlong eateries and listen to music through the ages of the Queen’s reign in the Furlong courtyard from Jodie Elms & guitarist Mike Relf – 12 noon – 2pm.
In the evening head down to the Market Place where there will be more live music and a beacon will be lit at 9.45pm to commemorate this historical moment.
Friday 3rd June – Soak up the jubilant atmosphere with a performance from the children from Stagecoach Ringwood at 10.30am – 11am and then enjoy relaxed classical music in the Furlong courtyard from Avon Valley Concerts from noon – 2pm. There will also be FREE face painting in the Furlong courtyard from 10am – 2pm.
Saturday 4th June – Scarlett Swing will wear their signature blue and red poppy dresses and perform a mixture of 40s, 50s and 60s classics and some modern vintage songs too for the younger members of the crowd, all in the stunning Furlong courtyard. 10.30am – 11.15am (set 1) and 11.30am – 12.15pm (set 2).
Sunday 5th June – Party in the Park at Carvers Recreation Ground from noon – 6pm. Ringwood Town Council have planned a fantastic event with a live music stage and a giant digital screen showing celebrations from across the country. Plus plenty of family entertainment including circus skills, game stalls, steam train, refreshments and a pop-up bar. Simply pitch up with a picnic blanket and enjoy these joyful celebrations.
